These Hire Terms outline the conditions under which Windsor Rivercraft Hire provides boats for private use. By confirming a booking or stepping aboard, you agree to follow these guidelines to ensure safe and fair use of our craft on the River Thames.
1. Bookings & Payment
Bookings can be made in advance through our website form or in person at our jetty. Confirmation is issued by email once the date and time are agreed. Payment is taken before departure. Prices are stated per hour and may vary by vessel type and season.
2. Eligibility
The person named on the booking must be at least eighteen years old and take responsibility for all passengers aboard. Children under sixteen must be accompanied by an adult. We reserve the right to request identification.
3. Safety & Use
Each hire includes a short briefing on operation, local navigation, and safety points. Lifejackets are provided and must be worn by children and non-swimmers. The hirer agrees to operate the vessel sensibly, keeping clear of other craft, swimmers, and weirs.
4. Weather & River Conditions
Hire may be suspended or shortened if river flow or weather becomes unsafe. In such cases, we offer rescheduling or proportional refund. Decisions on navigation safety are final and based on Environment Agency advice.
5. Damage & Liability
Boats must be returned in the same condition as issued. Any accidental damage should be reported immediately upon return. Windsor Rivercraft Hire is not responsible for personal property lost or damaged during hire. Liability for mechanical failure is limited to the hire fee paid.
6. Conduct
Please respect other river users, wildlife, and local residents. Music at high volume, littering, or alcohol consumption during operation are not permitted. Pets are welcome if controlled and supervised at all times.
7. Cancellations
Cancellations received at least twenty-four hours before the booked time are fully refundable. Later cancellations or no-shows may incur the full hire charge as the vessel cannot be reallocated.
8. Data & Privacy
Personal details collected for booking are handled according to our River Data Notice. We keep only essential contact information for confirmation and safety purposes.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute arising from hire will fall under the jurisdiction of local courts in Berkshire.
